Library Facilities

Information and a Library Centre Among engineering colleges in the state, SEACET has one of the top libraries. It began operating with the goal of developing into a leading learning resource centre with cutting-edge library materials and services in science and technology. It primarily contains books about engineering and related topics. In 2007, the S E A Engineering College built a library with a 5000 square metre space. The library's collection consists of 23562 books with 5166 titles in print. The library contains a wide selection of general books, including English novels, dictionaries, yearbooks, textbooks, and encyclopaedias.

The Library & Information Center's user-friendly strategy guarantees that its instructors and students have access to the unwavering information and intellectual needs they need. There are multiple copies of the textbooks, ensuring that the Reference Section and Stock Section have easy access to information. Additionally, it offers photocopying, CD/DVD, Internet, lending of books and periodical back issues, etc.

The library has a maintained OPAC and adopts an open access system. The Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system is used by the library to categorise publications in order to meet the needs of students, faculty, and research scholars. Using EasyLib Library Automation Software, the library is entirely computerised. All the contemporary amenities needed for a college library are present at SEACET Library & Information Centre.

ISSUES OF BOOKS

Collection:

The library's quiver contained scholarly and general knowledge materials in both print and digital form. The Engineering, Technology, and Management disciplines have a robust collection of books and journals in the library. The library offers a substantial collection of printed books and electronic books, as well as CDs and DVDs, as well as the most recent journals and periodicals. The intellectual property in the library, which has more than 20,000 volumes and 5000 book titles, is updated frequently. The library is also enhanced by more than 7000 international e-journals from Sciencedirect, Springer Nature, Taylor and Francis, Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), and Emerald, as well as 10,000+ open access full text E-books from major publishers like Springer, McGraw Hill Education, New Age International, Packt, T&F, and others. Additionally, there 627 bound volumes of journals are furthermore available.

DIGITAL LIBRARY

To expand students' understanding, a digital library system is integrated with the campus network. For quick access to the information you need, the library has 25 workstations.

Digital Library and E-Journals Access Rules:

Computers should only be used in the classroom.

Software shouldn't be installed or removed from library computers.

Inform the librarian if any of the computers aren't functioning. Never attempt to mend it.

Restrictions on access and downloading of licensed e-Resources

The institute has a licence to utilise the e-resources for its non-profit educational purposes. use of these electronic resources is subject to copyright legislation.

Doing the following things are strictly prohibited

Systematic distribution, download, or retention of significant chunks.

Sending electronic versions of articles or using electronic versions of articles for profit.

Downloading a full e-book, database, or journal issue is strictly forbidden.

Why should we not do the above things?

The entire Institute may not be able to access any electronic journals from a particular publisher as a result of improper use.

Licence agreements with publishers govern access to electronic resources.

Users of the library are allowed to temporarily download a single document to their own hard drive for non-commercial use in order to make digital copies of that document.

According to the conditions of use, it is not permitted to forward electronic versions of articles or to use them for profit.

Publishers maintain track of usage trends and instances when they suspect abuse in the form of systematic downloading (for example, downloading many articles from a single issue or continuously from a single journal).

They will revoke access, obliging the library to look into the matter and take appropriate action against anyone abusing the e-Resources.

There have been cases where publishers have denied the entire Institute access to their online resources.

Due to this, the majority of responsible users are unable to obtain the material they require for their research and academic study.

The library is now required to look into any such abuses and notify the publishers of them. It takes longer to acquire access back and persuade the publisher that future occurrences of these misuses will be prevented.
